Why my activities are not automatically tracked?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Why is it that we cannot “track” an aerobic exercise, i.e we are only able to track exercises involving the GPS, including running, hiking, and walking?

If, for example, I wanted to track a 20 minute session of pushups — where im remaining in place —  am i expected to let it be “auto-recognized by my device and not manually tracked?

It would seem like tracking other exercises not requiring the GPS should be an obvious feature of the device. Afterall, all that i want tracked is my heartrate and calories in a nice compartmentalized session on my exercise tab.

Te answer varies by which tracker you have.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Hello @Colintuc, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board. It's nice to see you too @JohnnyRow, I hope you're doing well. Smiley Happy

@Colintuc, I appreciate your participation in the Fitbit Community and for sharing your experience with us. Please note that most Fitbit devices automatically recognize and record high-movement activities at least 15 minutes long through the SmartTrack feature. Sync your device to see basic stats about your activity in your exercise history.

Choose which activities your device tracks automatically, or change the amount of time required for the activity to be recorded. For example, you can choose to track certain activities—such as walk, run, or swim—after only 10 minutes of movement:

  1. On the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Exercise tile to open your exercise history.
  2. Tap the gear icon.
  3. Tap an exercise and adjust the duration or turn off Auto-recognize.

As @JohnnyRow mentioned, it also depends on the tracker you're wearing, it will be easier for a tracker with heart rate to auto-recognize activities than one that doesn't.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.
