I've had a Fitbit for six years. (Zip then Alta) I had no idea that the Versa 2 did not work with a dongle and my computer. I've decided to keep the Versa 2, but now I need to know how to move all my stuff from my dashboard for the Alta to my phone and use the Versa 2.
If I cannot move anything, I can live with that, but I want to know if it is possible. I did scan over some of the subjects. If there is already a thread on this, please advise. Thanks so much!

To add Versa 2 to phone, from main 'Today' screen, tap your profile picture near top left. That takes you to the 'Account' page. Look down the screen for '+ Set up a Device', tap that and follow prompts.

Hi @swampmilkweed your history is actually kept on the Fitbit servers, so it's safe there. You can access your history via the phone or computer, using your email and password. There is no need to move things over, as it's all in one location and safely so. Here are the directions on how to set up the new device - click to read.
Let us know how things go for you.

You don't have to move your data. It is stored in the Fitbit computers under your account/email.
Assuming you have a compatible phone, download the Fitbit app to your phone and log in with the same user id/account. You should be able to see all your data. And it should prompt you for adding your Versa to the phone.

I was delighted to see two answer to my question. I now know I won't lose my data. However, I cannot seem to download the Fitbit app to my iPhone 7. I also see two Fitbit apps and don't know which one is the right one. I have also written Fitbit support. Maybe they can help. I know my iPhone is an older model, but Apple still sells them new. Mine is not reconditioned.
I actually tried to download both apps. Neither one worked. I was successful in downloading the Apple store app, so things should be up to date.

Thank you again. You and Odyssey 13 both told me I didn't have to worry about my data. I appreciate you both! UP to this point, you have been much more helpful than the company support!
I have tried 7 or 8 times to download the Fitbit app to my iPhone 7. It just does not work. On my iPhone there is an App Store and also an Apple store. The Fitbit does not show up at all in the Apple store. It does show in the App store and it looks just like the screen shot you sent me. When I touch Get, then the screen tells me to touch ID to install. When I touch ID, then the screen goes right back to Fibit as if I had done nothing.
I like to think I am fairly computer literate for an old person, but this has me stumped. The message after I touch Get is that Fitbit offers in-app purchases.
I did hear from Fitbit Support last night. They just said I needed the Fitbit app for my phone, so they were no help. I wrote them back to say I cannot get the app. Maybe they can help if they actually read my note. I was not ugly. Just said I cannot make the download work. Thank you so much for your help.

@swampmilkweed First, I want to reassure you about the in-app purchases. I believe that statement refers to purchasing Fitbit Premium, completely optional. Second, I am having trouble picturing in my mind what you see on your iPhone with your statement, "When I touch ID, the screen goes right back to Fitbit ..." Do you mean the page in the App Store or something else? Is it asking too much to post a screenshot?

Thank you so much! I have just very recently learned how to post a screen shot from my computer. I would have no idea at all how to post a screenshot from my phone, especially as I do not have the Fitbit app on my phone. 😞
Another helper on this community board did post screen shots for me. What I see on my phone is exactly like what he posted. The problem is that when I touch Get, then I see a screen that asks me to touch ID to install. When I do touch ID, then the screen goes right back to Fitbit app as it was before I touched Get. I have done this over and over with the same result. Yes, I do mean the page on the app store.
One time, and only one time, the phone made a noise. Am I wrong to expect the app to show on my phone? My phone came with too many apps. However, I did successfully download one new one about invasive plants. That made an icon show on my screen. That is why I expect the Fitbit app to show on my screen.

@swampmilkweed I am sorry that I went a little tech overboard with you. My photos, including screenshots, are on iCloud, so a phone screenshot can be seen from any of my devices.
You mentioned someone else on this board. If you give us that user's screen name, we can search his/her posts.
In the meantime, this is a long shot. Have you tried restarting your phone? I will also do a search, looking for the same issue posted by someone else.

It sounds like you might not have ever before downloaded an app on your phone.
I suggest trying to download some other app to see if you are able to do that. This might not really be a Fitbit issue.
There are plenty of simple free app you could try to download. You can uninstall afterward if wish; maybe something light a "flashlight" app or "solitaire".

Thanks, JohnnyRow. I actually have downloaded two apps on my new phone. Both of them immediately showed up with an icon on the screen. This is definitely a Fitbit issue. I am hoping that the Fitbit support team can assist me. The two apps that were successful were super easy. That is why this is so frustrating. Thanks for your help anyway.

To all who helped me, thanks! I finally figured out the download problem all by myself. I am over 70! Fitbit said I would have to take it up wit Apple. I tried one final time to do the download. this time I just barely touched the ID home button. It worked. I was amazed. I then wrote to Fitbit support to tell them the trick in case this issue ever presented itself to them again. After you touch GET, then the ID touch needs to be feather light. I had been pressing pretty hard.
Sadly, I see no way at all to add my new Versa 2. I can see lots of stuff on the phone and syncing seems to be MUCH easier than on the desktop, but I am waiting for Fitibit support to get back to me on how to add a device.

Dear JohnnyRow,
Thanks again. Fitbit Support also got back to me over night and said the same thing you did. I need to get out and do actual walking and yoga. I'll try to set up my new device later. My Alta still works fine. I did go look and found the set up device feature. Thanks so much.
