iOS app runs all the time in the background since last update

The Fitbit app runs all the time in the background according to the iPhone battery settings screen (close to 24 hours per day). Seems to be since the app was last updated a week ago. Presume this is a bug.

So I logged out, deleted the app, restarted the phone, reinstalled the app and logged back in. Seems to be fixed, for now at least.

Spoke too soon. It’s doing it again now. I do hope Fitbit engineers are aware and it is fixed quickly.

I’m having a similar issue. The last few days, when I’ve woken up I’ve noticed the battery on my phone is almost completely depleted. I always go to sleep with my phone fully charged since I don’t like leaving my phone charging over night. On closer inspection, I’ve noticed that it’s the Fitbit app that’s draining my battery. It’s doing something for 25 minutes of every hour. It never used to be a problem so something, somewhere has changed perhaps in a recent update?

Here’s a screenshot of my battery usage the past 24 hours as irrefutable proof that the app is draining my battery. I’ve since turned off background app refresh for Fitbit to see if it helps but I also noticed the option to turn off “all day sync” has been removed from the Fitbit app so I can’t turn that off

I have a possible solution @MarkJC62

I noticed my location indicator was always displayed at the top of my screen which means one of my apps is constantly using my location. Since Fitbit is the only app with permission to use my location set to “always” it’s safe to assume Fitbit is the culprit.

Do you use a third party clock face with weather displayed? And is it working? I noticed the last few days, my weather/temperature wasn’t showing on my clock face so I reckon my Fitbit was constantly trying to sync to fetch this data hence the location indicator always on and my battery draining considerably.

I’ve since reverted back to a fitbit clock face and battery usage seems to have returned to normal.

Thanks, but I don't have a watch face at all as I'm using a One, so it can't be that exactly. I did the reinstall thing again and it has been ok for a couple of days so fingers crossed.
