Hi
Since the latest update of the fitbit app - the one that said we have a new app icon - the app has been using a lot of power on my phone. Previously my battery would last a full day. Now it can easily spend 20% of the battery by lying around completely unused for a couple of hours. The battery drains even faster if I actually use the phone.
If I go to Settings -> Battery on my iPhone 5S I can see that the fitbit app is using a lot time in the background, and is by far the single app that uses the most power on my phone.
By the way, I have a fitbit flex, if that matters.
How do I get back to a more reasonable power consumption? I have tried turning background app refresh off. It doesn't seem to make a difference.
Best regards
Jacob

@JacobBunk Do you leave the Fitbit app running in the background all day? I haven't noticed any increase in battery drain from the new app on my iPhone 5, however I do not leave it running all day. I open it to sync my tracker and then close it fully until I want to sync again.

I think the app is running in the background most of the time, just like it always has been. Since this past Friday when I updated the app I have now learned about turning background app refresh off and learned about the battery feature in settings because I noticed that the bettery died much faster than usual. It haven't made any difference.
To be honest, I think the latest update contained more than just a new app icon.

When I went to bed the battery was at 69% - when I got up 7 hours later, after having slept and not used my phone at all, it was at 24%. Settings->Battery clearly showed that the Fitbit app was to blame for the battery draining. Please fix this bug for the next version of the app.

@SunsetRunner - I now tried to explicitly close the app everytime I have used it for just a moment. I still get push notifications for the challenges I'm in, but it will only sync with my Fitbit flex whenever I open the app.
However, it can still use half the battery while I'm asleep for 7 or 8 hours and going to Settings -> Battery clearly indicates that the Fitbit app is spending hours of compute time in the background even though I turned background app updates off.

It turns out this is probably not a problem with the Fitbit App, but a problem with my iPhone 5S. It started around the time where I updated the Fitbit app, and the battery info in Settings->Battery menu shows Fitbit as the app that uses the most power with hours of background activity each day.
