lack of accuracy

My partner and I have Ones. This is an example of accuracy that I cannot get a straight answer on:

Today my One tracker recorded 10,528 steps and 4.61 miles. Hers recorded 11,036 steps and 6.41 miles.

We walked the course together and both of us are the same height, How is it possible that she did 500 more steps but almost 2 miles more. I have asked this question before but can't get a straight answer.

Who can help?

Compare your stride lengths. On phone app from Today screen, tap gear icon at top right to get to Settings > 'Activity & Wellness' > Exercise > 'Stride Length'.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
