I was looking at getting a new watch and looked at all of my options. Thought I would stay with FitBit!
Awhile ago they sent me notices to allow Fitbit to use location services always. Didn't need that before and don't want anyone to track me all day. Then, that notice went away!
Now, it tells me to turn on background app refresh if I want to track my run. Never needed to do that before. All I had to do was have it running during my run. A few times after getting this message, I got the map anyway. Then it stopped giving me the map even though it tracked everything else.
Now notifications continuously gets turned off!
Why should I stay with Fitbit when functionality that has worked is now being removed?
You have made my decision easy! I will but the Apple Watch.
Thanks for the ride. It was fun when I had the functions I paid for.

It really has gotten bad in the past year. The app is constantly nagging me to turn on location services and bluetooth sharing, I can no longer turn off all-day sync, I get bombarded with reminder notifications at random and because of all this it's draining my phone's (and watch's) battery.
It used to work just fine without doing any of these things. I'm at the point where I just switched off bluetooth to make it stop.I should probably just get a regular watch instead.

Agreed, this has gotten ridiculous. I go to bed with my phone fully charged and when I wake up, my iPhone battery is at 1%, with the battery monitor attributing all of it to the Fitbit app. I have to disable Bluetooth and Wifi all day long, and enable it if I want to use my AirPods. Today I re-enabled bluetooth to sync my Fitbit Charge 3, and the battery dropped 8% while I was watching.
Update: I removed my Fitbit as a bluetooth device, but still allowed the app to use bluetooth. Sync still works, but the excessive battery drain of my iPhone battery has stopped.
