sense screen response

So I just got my Sense last week, and my screen does not seem to respond very well when tapping it to turn on screen etc. It sometimes takes quite a few tries before face lights up. Or changes to show steps etc. 

This is pretty frustrating.. can someone help me .. not sure what I’m doing wrong. Also I have restarted it and no difference.

tapping doesn't really work use the side button always. also when swiping on the screen always start from the edge of the device it will respond a lot better.
