tracking without fitbit?

I used to have a fitbit and lost it.  I still use the app when I go hiking, but it seems my hikes no longer sync from the app.  The app and web account has all of the history, but I show up as inactive to my friends (who I am hiking with).  I can taunt them and message them, but no stats.  Is this a bug, or does it only work if I buy a new fitbit?  It worked in the past just fine.  I primarily use my phone and Apple watch at this point (healthkit integration request please), so I won't like get another fitbit wrist device, but perhaps will get another Fitbit product in the future.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @fchixon! It's great to have you here!

Hmm this is pretty weird, I would try rebooting your mobile device and then going to the Fitbit app and remove the MobileTrack from the account then you can try setting it up again. If the issue persists and you get an error message maybe you can post the screenshot in order to further investigate.

Let  me know how it goes!

Are you using MobileRun in the Fitbit app with your old tracker still registered as your device, or have you installed MobileTrack as your tracker? If the app thinks you still have your old device and you're just not wearing it, those are considered manually-entered steps and don't count toward challenges.
