The Fitbit app continues to contact various servers every fifteen minutes or more even when background app refresh is disabled. My pi-hole DNS counted almost 500 hits in twelve hours going to multiple servers. Shutting down the app is the only way to keep this from happening.
I have resisted getting an Apple Watch because of the sleep tracking. But now that Google owns Fitbit, it becomes an issue of trust and I'm not sure I like all the tracking you are doing of me.
These are the fitbit servers:
- fsc.fitbit.com
- iphone-cdn-client.fitbit.com.cdn.cloudflare.net
- iphone-cdn-client.fitbit.com
- corporate-webapps.fitbit.com.cdn.cloudflare.net
- experiments.fitbit.com.cdn.cloudflare.net
- corporate-webapps.fitbit.com
- experiments.fitbit.com
- web-api.fitbit.com.cdn.cloudflare.net
- web-api.fitbit.com
- snapdragon-ws.fitbit.com.cdn.cloudflare.net
- snapdragon-ws.fitbit.com
- digital-assets.fitbit.com.cdn.cloudflare.net
- digital-assets.fitbit.com
- www.fitbit.com
- static0.fitbit.com.cdn.cloudflare.net
- static0.fitbit.com
And of course, all the creepy trackers which I block already:
- firebaseinstallations.googleapis.com
- app-measurement.com
- play.googleapis.com
- logx.optimizely.com
- cdn.optimizely.com
- logs-01.loggly.com
- graph.facebook.com
- firebaselogging-pa.googleapis.com
- www.google-analytics.com
- mcbs1myt8rhvg1jhw6dlgdpy4fly.device.marketingcloudapis.com
- s7.device.marketingcloudapis.com
Details: iPhone X (NQAM2LL/A) running iOS 14.2. Fitbit App v3.36

BTW @christopherjost Google does not own Fitbit.
You bought a tracker that you knew connects to your online account.
