Ace 2 Failed Setup and Dead Screen

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I purchased a Fitbit Ace 2 for my son a couple of days ago and we received it today.  We attempted to set up the device, and while the app indicated that there was a successful device setup, the screen of the device only displayed a single white line in the center.  Swiping was ineffective, there was no time displayed, steps, or anything else.  We fully charged the device, and there was no change.  We walked around with the device, and tried to sync.  The app indicated that the sync was successful, but no steps or other data appeared to have been recorded (because it was not displayed on the app).

We tried multiple soft resets of the device, and there was no improvement.  After each soft reset, the smiley face screen loaded, and then the fitbit logo with the device setup address.  Nothing changed.  We deleted and attempted to redo the setup, with the same result every time.  We also attempted a hard reset, and there was no change.

We even tried to make changes to the device displays via the app, but every time we clicked on something (like a new watch face), the app screen froze and there was no change to the device.

Please advise on how to fix this.  My son was very much looking forward to this device and was greatly disappointed and frustrated that it never even started to work correctly.  My husband has had a half dozen fitbit devices over the years (including an Ionic now), and has never had a problem like this.  Many thanks in advance.

UPDATING - After reviewing more of the discussion forum, we tried setting up the Ace 2 on an iPhone (instead of a SurfacePro tablet). This worked. Others on the forum mentioned that the white line indicated a software update. When synced to the tablet, the white line never changed (even after hours). There was no indication on the fitbit or on the app that there was a problem or update needed, so we thought we had a dud device. Once synced to the iPhone, the white line started brightening on one side after about 5 minutes. The update took about 25 minutes (not 5 - 10 min. the fitbit app indicated on my phone). We're now up and running!

Bottom line - try syncing to an iPhone if you are having a similar issue.

I have the exact same issue. Bought it today.

I do not have an iphone.

I have 2 fitbits, never had an issue, but trying to get this ace 2 setup is not going good!!

I have set up the family account, but now my son shows up as only a friend.and I can't seem to find a way to see the family account now

please help, I've spent hours on this!

(I was using version 2.89, so i thought to see if an ungraded version would help, nope!  worse really.)
