My 9yr old and my 12yr old have both requested a Fitbit for their birthdays.

I was fully prepared to get him the Ace 2, but she would prefer something more grown up. So I was looking into the AltaHR. Except now I see it can't be used on a family account? That's exceptionally disappointing. She does not, and will not, have a phone of her own, and she can't connect it to my phone because my Charge 2 is connected. So she's just plain out of luck?

This has me seriously reconsidering not only these two purchases, but my own upcoming upgrade.

Hi @OKmamaJ,

Have you considered getting them Ace 1's?  They look just like the Alta line, but smaller.  They can be used to set up a Family Account (in fact, it will be triggered upon setup) and all the syncing is done through your phone.

Fitbit doesn't have it advertised on their site anymore, but you may be able to find them on a site like Amazon or eBay, and probably much cheaper than purchasing directly through Fitbit.

And if they want to change the band, all of the Alta/Alta HR bands are interchangeable with the Ace 1 bands.
