The Ace needs to track distance, not just steps. I bought this for my child who runs, so for his needs, the Ace is pretty useless.

Hi, @FY18, the Ace will report your child's total distance for the day, but does not track distance for any individual activites detected. That is because the Ace uses Fitbit's "smarttrack" programme to detect activites, and smarttrack does not record distances.
You might like to vote for this popular feature request to allow more Fitbits than the Ace for a family account.

It doesn't show total distance in mobile app. I would agree that tracker is very basic with extremely limited function of just steps & sleep tracking. My tracker doesn't even record afternoon naps that kids are taking.

@FY18 @sampatdharmesh It's great to see you in our Fitbit Community! I'm afraid that the Fitbit Ace doesn't track distance. However, you can go ahead and vote for this Feature Suggestion, which requests the Ace to have distance tracker also.
The more votes this idea gets, the more chances it will have to be reviewed by our engineers and developers.
@Julia_G Thank you so much for your help and contribution my friend!
See you all later!

Hi.
Sorry to jump on this thread.
Can you please tell me how to set my child's ace to show total distance covered in a day? I can only get it to show me total steps and active minutes. Thanks

We’re in the same boat- also bought our 10 year old this watch assuming that it tracked his runs. I think Fitbit need to up their expectations of what children are doing or make limitations clearer on the information

HI could you tell me how it reports the total distance for the day please? My 4 children have just entered into a local walk for charity and they have to submit their distance each day and it is only now when I was showing them how to get that information from their apps that I have discovered that it only seems to show their steps and I can't seem to find the distance on it. I have always used fitbit and because it was included on mine I presumed the ace would have the same. I'm hoping after seeing this post that I'm just missing something??

Hi, @Jelr , unfortunately my post above is incorrect. The Ace does not give a total distance for the day, unfortunately. It calculates steps. However, you can easily do a calculation yourself in order to enter the distance for your children’s charity walk. There’s a nice little conversion calculator here .
I hope this helps. Welcome to the forums!
