How would I upgrade my Ace kid to an Alta? Would it change their history? Do I erase and start over again?

Hi, @Mrjwhit, when you move from a kid account to an adult account the data from the kid account will not be maintained.  That is because it is effectively an entirely new account.

Only Fitbit Ace, designed for children 8 years and older, can be connected to a Fitbit child account. For more information, see About Fitbit Ace.

To use the Alta will require their own email account and password, history will be a fresh start for them. You will still be able to review, their old stats from your family account until you delete it even if their Ace is idled or passed on.

As @wmchapman said, the only tracker that triggers a family account is the Ace, since it's specifically designed for kids.

Hi, @Mrjwhit, I am wondering what you are actually wanting to do.  The Alta is not actually an upgrade on the Ace.  They are essentially the same devices, except that the Ace is shipped with a smaller band.

You can set up the Ace on an adult account, just like the Alta.  As others have noted, you cannot set up and Alta on a child account.

I was wondering if I upgrade would the Ace data be lost or would it uograde to a non kid account. What I am reading is that the info is not going to transfer to the new fitbit.

@Mrjwhit Thank you for getting back! My friend @Julia_G is correct. The data from your previous tracker won't be kept since you would be creating a new account.

So the answer is it can’t  be done. You might want to figure out how to allow kids accounts to be upgraded to full accounts. It will increase brand loyalty if kids can keep their data when they upgrade  to their own account.  If they are starting from scratch they may think that it doesnt matter if they switch to a garmin or amazon.
