Using Fitbit kids trackers for a group

Hi all,

So as a teacher in the UK I am constantly striving to find new ways to motivate my hard to reach pupils and I have a plan to use FitBits for some of my technologically minded kids.... but I don't know if it can be done. I have done some research and have come up with this idea....

I purchase 1 adult FitBit and 10 kids (ace2?)  FitBits (I understand that 1 can link 10 kids accounts to 1 adult account) and set up an account through my mobile (android) and link the other fitbits using generic accounts set up in the school - eg child1@myschool.co.uk. Is this possible?

Then my children go away for a week for example do lots of activity and bring the watch back to me, its connects to my phone via bluetooth and I read the data to see who has done the most?

Is it that simple or would each child need a fitbit and a mobile that links to it? Could a child's watch link to a desktop app, and thus link to the school computers. Would this need separate cables?

Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated.

I want to minimise spending, simplify all the technological steps that need to be overcome and data protection is of course a huge issue?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @TeacherUK.

Thanks for the details shared in your post. I appreciate your efforts and understand your concern. I would like to advise that a total of 11 individuals can be part of a family account. Family accounts are available in the Fitbit app only, not on the fitbit.com dashboard. You can create a Fitbit family account, add several child accounts and connect multiple trackers to your phone. To begin, create a Fitbit child account for each child and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the trackers to your device. For instructions, see How do I set up Ace for my child?

Through the protected kid view, you can see kids’ stats, badges, and clock face options. Note that if you have multiple trackers connected to the same device, you must sync each tracker individually. For more information, see

For more information about Fitbit kids devices, see How do I get started with Fitbit kids devices?

Hope this helps.
