Also tried remove and re-add, but that won't work cos it asks for the number on the display, which obviously I cant read. This is the second Fitbit in a row that failed, (previous was  Charge HR). Very disappointed.

P.s. I tried online support chat but there is something seriously wrong with the site. I got kicked from the chat 4 times in 10 minutes. And every time I started writing the screen went completely blank and so had to resize to read the response. Now I can't even get the chat window to open. I get something about the wrong journey crap.

Hi @RobT64 the Alta HR was retired a few years ago, so your device is probably getting old. My screen does get dimmer over time and I got the Luxe. If you're trying to set up and can't see the screen, that is a problem. With support, did you try the phone number? It might be easier for you.

No I haven't tried the number. I will try to call during lunch break tomorrow. My Alta is only 2 years old and the previous one died after less than two years. So it would be pretty dissappointed if that is the life expectancy. My original Fitbit Flex lasted ~5 years.

***UPDATE***
Finally got through to tech support on the phone. The helpdesk person was lovely and organised a replacement Fitbit Alta HR for me. I feel a lot happier now. And with service like this, I'm back to being comfortable with recommending Fitbit trackers.

What wonderful news @RobT64 and thanks for letting us know. When it arrives, set it up as a replacement on an existing account and your history will be there to continue your journey. Keep on stepping!
