Alta HR is cycling through the displays

my Fitbit is about a year old.  it started cycling through all of the displays I have setup and won't respond to my taps.  I've tried charging and resetting the device but it keeps doing the same thing.  because it is cycling the charge gets depleted in about 4 hours.  any way to fix this problem?  thanks

My Fitbit is doing the same thing.  It is probably over a year old but less than 2 years old.  It cycled through all the displays one evening and the next morning it was completely black.  I have tried restarting.  In case it may have gotten wet, I tried it in rice for 3 days and then tried everything again.  I was hoping someone had found a solution.  I will have to check on my purchase date to see if it is still under warranty.  I will be very disappointed if it just died and is not warrantied and a number of people are having this issue.

Sounds exactly the same as my issue. Mine is also slightly over a year and Fitbit is saying it’s no longer under warranty yet others on this community chat said that under 2 years they were sent a replacement. I’m soo annoyed!! It should not just break out of nowhere. I’m hoping they will send me a new one but I haven’t heard back again from them. I refuse to buy a new Fitbit. I’m very angry and disappointed. Good luck with yours. Let me know how it goes!

After I got a 5 day charge, it hasn’t lasted 24 hours. I’ve already my Garmin picked out for when I finally give up getting this one up and running. I am also not happy that some people are reporting free replacement for 2 years when was told my warranty was up after a year. My new coworker is experiencing same issue with Fitbit charge.

Hello all, I hope you are doing fine.

I am sorry for the delay in respond and appreciate all the efforts in trying to fix this syncing issue.

@NaiLori@janehartley1@sgerber@JenKski50@Rmlipo@Rintac@Lukecoyne@Lesliesup16@timlarue@Tricia9999 and @Arnold5, if you are having problems syncing your Fitbit, I recommend making sure you have followed the instructions provided in the help article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?. Also, please check that you phones are compatible mobile devices.

I will see you around. Smiley Happy

Did that a week ago. I didn't know that this device was only expected to
last one year with only light use.

Agreed. 14 months a $150 product should not break. They offered me 50% off and since I can’t afford an Apple Watch right now I bought a new Fitbit. It pained me to do it but was affordable. They should of sent me a replacement.

I would have gone with a different brand to start with if I'd known Fitbit
was essentially a novelty item, expected to last barely a year. I haven't
put mine through any hard use either. They offered me a 25% discount if I
bought another fitbit alta hr or 40% off if I bought an ionic--so the ionic
must be even worse than the alta hr? Someone else on the chat said that
fitbits stock is sliding down. I will certainly be telling Consumer
Reports about my experience with this device and this company.

Hi Alejandra, the solutions don't work, and folks on this board have been offered anywhere from 20% to 50% in discount towards another product.

1. The problem is the device, and if its not working and not related to the user misuse, Fitbit should be replacing it, not offering a discount.

2. I don't see why you are offering such a low discount - why would I pay 75% towards a new Alta HR when wont even last 2 years?

Mine has started doing the same thing.... what was the resolution?

There is none except to buy another one their faulty products on your dime?!?!

Mine has stopped cycling through displays after a lot of charging and resetting, but it won’t hold a charge for even 24 hours anymore. If you can get. Replacement under warranty, I’d do that. I am waiting until I get tired of charging every night and ordering a Garmin. So no real resolution.

There wasn't one. Fitbit offered me 25% off to buy a new one. Their
stock keeps going down, too, so I'll be going with a different brand next
time.

I ended up getting a replacement sent. Not sure why that was offered to me and  not others.

I emailed the support team on https://contact.fitbit.com and after following their suggestions, which made no difference, they offered to replace my fitbit, which they did. This hasn't happened to everyone though so maybe it's the luck of the draw. Good luck!

I think anyone with the Alta less than a year old can get a replacement because of the warranty.  Others who are getting replacements after a year are probably not from the US as other countries have a 2 year limited warranty.  I have gone through customer support now and got offered a discount on another fit bit product.  My daughter's Charge 3 is older and continues to be fine, but I think I'll be looking into an Apple Watch.

Same situation, I bought mine in January 2018.

Decided to not avail their discount. 40% sounds good but I don't see why Fitbit doesn't stand by their product since it was not a user issue. Price doesn't justify it lasting just a year. I'll buy another product instead.

Mine has just done the same and the response from support is that they will do nothing as it is out of its 1 year warranty.  I learned warranty is based on original purchase, which I think was Oct 2017 but the one that has now broken was a free replacement for that one, which died from a different software problem.  The agent said this isn't a common problem - the community dashboard suggests otherwise - and couldn't confirm it's no longer an issue with newer models.  I've lost faith in this model, maybe even all fitbits.  I don't expect to be needing to buy a new one every couple of years!
