I got my Alta today and I've had it plugged in and charging for over 2 hours now and it won't turn on. If I tap the screen nothing happens, I've tried restarting it too. Any suggestions?

I was having the same issue. Make sure you registered your Fitbit as the correct model. Then enter the I.D. number shown on the watch when asked. That corrected the problem for me.

So annoyed. Received the Alta HR as a gift. Every time I charge it I can see the battery progress and can see all the different modes. As soon as I remove it from the charger it goes blank and I can not turn it on. When I put it back in the charger I get an empty Battery sign and an “!”. I have pressed the reset button a million times now and this just starts the process over. I have changed USB ports loads of times ( in computer, wall sockets) and called customer service. I have noticed that my Fitbit never vibrates when the battery is full or to turn on as it states it should. Any help would be much appreciated. I have a case number already. Bitterly disapppointed in this product at the moment.

I had this issue, I say had because tomorrow I will be returning it to Macy's getting refund and never purchasing another one again. I spent over hour with support started convo by telling them I tried all the troubleshooting things and they dont work, they spent a half hour verifying my account then the next 30 minutes troubleshooting it. After that they told me that I could either send it back to be replaced or drive the hour to the Macy's and see what warranty they had for me. Both options are not worth it to me what happens if I get home and another one does not work, either way I will be returning it next time I'm in Orlando and never buy products from them again. Lets just say my 1st experience with fitbit was not a pleasurable one but after reading this thread im glad to be getting out.

I had this same thing happen to me and wanted to share what worked in case someone else had this happen. Just as others described...would not turn on other than to display the fitbit.com/setup...no matter what I did. Two things I think may have caused it. First, I selected the wrong device when setting up the App. I accidentally selected Alta HR instead of the Alta which is what I have (must scroll down further for the Alta). Second, I do not think the device was charged adequately when I tried to plug into USB and set up as instructed. In any event, let it charge for 45 minutes to an hour. Then here is how I solved it: I deleted the app from my phone....reinstalled the app...logged in under my account already created from first try, and then hit the add or set up device and followed prompts from there. Worked like a charm.

uh oh i think i found out why it wasn't charging when i picked it up it was steaming hot and burned my hand what should i do

The same exact thing is going on with my Fitbit Alta. I called customer service and they didn't help.

I am having the same problem. I won a fit it Alta online. Charged it fully and that shows on screen. Then goes back to(www.fit it.com/setup). Nothing else happens. Loaded program on my LG Glad x10 from Google play 3 different times. Uninstalled between downloads. Checked Bluetooth. Reset fit it by way of charging cord 3 times as well. Very frustrated. My wife is laughing at me because her. $ 9.95MF unit works fine and connected on the first try. What should I do ?

My alta won't turn on. It was charging this morning ok. Then I took it off charge and the scene has gone blank

I bought the Alta HR Saturday. Today is Tuesday. It will not turn on past fitbit set up. I charged it for the past few days. I called Customer Service who said it was because I didn't have the right cell phone. So I tried my computer. Nope. No Bluetooth connection. Then I tried my laptop. Same thing. A supervisor sent out the Dongle and I got it today. Went through the setup process again.....and NOTHING. It will NOT turn on. It doesn't matter if I tap, squeeze or what ever. I am taking this back to the Px just as fast as I can and find a different brand of fitness band. I don't need this amount of stress in my life over the set up of a device. Nothing should be this hard!
