Alta accuracy concern

After syncing and resyncing my fitbit Alta it's reading 13488 steps and mileage of 34.4 miles!!

How can I sort this out.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. To better assist you with your Fitbit Alta, can you please describe the actual issue you're experiencing with the stats that your device is recording? In the meantime I receive your answers, please restart your Fitbit and then check: How accurate are Fitbit devices?

Thanks for replying. I have restarted my fitbit several times and synced with an updated app. 

As you can see from my initial post the 34.44 miles shown on my dashboard is extremely inaccurate for 13943 steps. If I look at the expanded daily chart for that day the mileage 7.19 miles is correct. 

How do I fix this one inaccuracy because it alters the scale on my distance graphs going back 3 years.

 

Or could I delete that one day? Then I could add back my excercises.
