Alta hr not counting steps

My Alta hr is showing 0 steps on both the device and my phone and I have been out walking for an hour - the clock function is working.

Thanks for your suggestion that got it going (but I lost 2hours of steps)
but then it stopped again. If it continues to malfunction I will contact
customer support as I don’t expect these issues with a new device
