I have attempted to find a solution to a problem I have seen posted on various forums. My Alta keeps shutting off randomly even with a full charge. I have tried all the options given by various people and Fitbit support members. The reset doesn’t work. Has anyone found a solution that really works? Carrying around the charging cable to get it to turn back on isn’t a solution to the problem, it defeats the purpose of the device. I can’t believe a device would just quit after a couple years that doesn’t have any damage to it. It’s very disappointing to not have a solution to this issue as these devices aren’t cheap. Are there updates, or any other remedy to the concern? Maybe a refund or discounted upgrade to a better device? So far I haven’t found a solution to this problem and it appears a large number of people are in the same boat.

I have also been having a similar problem with my alta. Keeps shutting off even tho it shows a full battery. It is so frustrating and I'm not sure what to do. I have tried resetting and other things nothing seems to work.

I've had the same issue. Mine is just a year old and it has been doing it for months. Very frustrating.

This week my fitbit Alta just stopped displaying. It is fully charged and when I plug it in, the screen will display. Once off the charger it will respond to the tap or wrist flick for about 5 min and then it goes off again. I have restarted multiple times and no luck. Can someone from customer service contact me with some other options?

I have the same problem with my Alta. I received the Alta for Christmas and began having problems in March. I've contacted customer service by email several times. I'm always told to do a hard reset. This is not a solution. I was told the warranty was only 45 days, and therefore no resolution was offered. I would love to upgrade to a nicer device, but am not sure that I trust anything made by Fitbit. Such a disappointment.

Mine is doing the same thing. It is fully charged and won't stay on. It is also just 1 year or less old.

Exactly the same problem for me. Alta reports a full battery when connected and responds to all taps, however, as soon as it's disconnected from the cable my Alta immediately becomes non-responsive; reconnect to the charging cable and it springs to life. I've tried all the fixes and resets none of which have made any difference. Have been on the Fitbit treadmill for the last four years but every day that my Alta doesn't work makes it easier and easier to walk away, it's a shame.

I am having exact same problem as @LoBergand now “quick view” shows charging battery image every time. I’ve checked version is up to date. I’ve resync’ed and reintroduced Alta to the app....help!!!

This is happening to me with a brand new Alta the first day out of the box. I’ve reset it several times and it will work for about an hour then shut off again. I have also seen the same problem on several chat boards

I too am also having the same problems as the original poster. My Fitbit tends to shut down at 75% power. Sometimes it gets stuck on "charging mode" when disconnected from the charger. Rebooting my device is also no longer working (the device will no longer reboot, even after following the instructions to do so).

I am on my third (just got it today) Alta replacement. You are lucky yours lasted as long as it did. My daughter gave it to me just last Christmas...each one only seems to live for 3 months...they have discontinued making Alta and I can see why. Typically, if you call them and you are still under warranty, they will send you a replacement or offer you 50% off another product.

Yeah, I actually have no idea how old my Fitbit is. It was given to me by someone that didn't like it (but it was working initially for about 4 months).
My wife's Ionic is also broken. It stopped syncing to her phone, and now it's not even turning on, even after connecting it to a charger. I was wondering if rogue untested firmwares hit our devices at about the same time.
