Bad GPS data between Fitbit and Fitbit app

I have recently started tracking runs using my Fitbit Alta and the Fitbit app on my iPhone 11. I am finding the kilometres travelled inaccurate compared to routes I am taking and when I look on the map generated at the end of a run it looks as though my path is criss-crossing all over the place.

Today, myself and my partner went on a walk and I tracked it. The route was max 12k, when I finished it Fitbit app said I’d walked 20!! This meant I would’ve had to have run the route! My Fitbit devise said I’d travelled 12k and my partners google smart watch said he’d done 11k. Again, the map had zig-zag lines all over the place.

Has anyone had any experience in fixing this problem? I don’t mind if it’s half a k or so out on a run but to nearly double the walk today was really disappointing. I’ve always been really impressed with Fitbit.

Thanks in advance

Did you find a fix? The same thing is happening to my Alta for the last week.

No I haven’t but strava have released a statement saying it’s an issue with the iPhone which is quite fustrating!

I fixed the issue ( this time, hopefully for good) by unpairing and re pairing the Alta with my app. Restarting my phone and deleting and re downloading the app did not do it.

Lets hope it sticks!
