Welcome to the Community Forums @Harsh787agarwal! 🙂

Our engineers have worked diligently on your tracker's algorithms to make sure that it does not pick up false steps or activity recordings while in a car. Unless you are driving in a car with a stiff transmission or on back country roads, your tracker should not give you credit for any work that you don't do.

If you do pick up some steps while driving, you can delete them by going to the Track Exercise tile. Here, tap on the stop watch at the top right corner, then make sure you're on the "Log" tab and type the word "Driving". Put in the requested information and the time frame you want to delete the steps for and save the changes. This will delete any unwanted steps.

Hope you find this helpful. Let me know if you need more help!

Any chance the developers can add an extra tap to turn step counting on and off, as deleting through dashboard all the time is a right pain

Great suggeztion! Why not go and vote for TURNING OFF STEP COUNTING in the Feature Suggestions forum? The more votes the more likely it is to be implimented.

Hi @Ukiainib, great to see you in the Community Forums! 🙂

I was also able to find this suggestion which is a little bit old but it would be worth checking. This is for having a driving mode to enable from the app. You may see the suggestion here.

Thanks for taking the time to share your ideas and keep them coming! See you around! 🙂

Many people drive daily to their work... Are you suggesting that daily they have to manually log their driving activity twice (to and fro)???... I mean, are you seriously suggesting it??... Instead, why cant you add a feature inside the fitbit app to automatically track driving activity?

Hi @JTSh. Great to see you in the Community Forums! 🙂

This is a very smart idea, however, it would be a little difficult to implement because your tracker automatically recognizes when you're riding your bike outdoors and it would then falsely record car drives as bike rides.

Something else I can suggest is that if you're having problems with this, you can use the DriveBit app. This app is very helpful for these scenarios. Most of the time unless the road is too bumpy, you shouldn't have a problem with this. At least, I don't have any problem with my tracker recording steps when I'm driving other than when I'm moving my hands vigorously inside the car and even these steps are very minimum that don't represent a huge impact on my overall steps.

Hope this helps. Anything else, I'm here.

what do you suggest if your FitBit AltaHR, out of the box for about two weeks, is picking up a large amount of steps while driving?  My fitbit is registering that I have taken over 1000 steps this morning and it appears about 100 of them were logged while I was driving--does this have anything to do with wearing the device too low on the wrist?  I moved my wristband while at a stop light and garnered about 15 steps for my trouble.  ??

@Ashiboo No the syeps while driving are from bumps on the road on the whole. There is nothing you can really do about getting them, but if there are large numbers involved (if you drive for a job for example and end up with thousands) then you can manually log a driving activity over the time and that will cancel out the steps, or you can use an app called Drivebit (I have never used it and know nothing about it)

Logging a driving activity

To log a driving activity go to your app, tap the exercise tile (running man), then the stopwatch icon in the top right corner. On the screen that comes up start to type in Driving and when the list drops down SELECT DRIVING from the list (very importand not to type in the whole word). Fill in the details and Log it.
