I cannot see the screen when outdoors in sunlight but can see it indoors. Please help with how to correct this. This started about 1 week ago.

Hi @Llivanov and @knitcrazy! Thanks for posting in the Community. If your Alta's screen brightness is not what you expected restart it.
Also, you can upvote to the main suggestion as @WendyB mentioned above. Keep in mind that this idea is not currently planned. And for the moment, this suggestion open for votes (and closed to comments) so that we can continue to track community demand over time.
Catch you later! 🙂

For a "soft restart"
Plug the device into the charger and locate the bottom on the outlet-end of the charger and push it 3 times within 8 seconds. When you see the fitbit logo and version number appear, which takes one or two seconds after the button pushes - the device has restarted
For a "hard restart"
Do the "soft restart" process 3 or more times consecutively, waiting to see the logo and version number before each restart.
Neither of these methods will delete any fitbit data. They are safe.
As for the visibility - I think we all have this issue in the brightest of sunlight. However, I can read mine in any obstructed sunlight, and of course shade and indoors. There is no way to change the brightness, although many of us have voted for the above suggestion. Sadly it would be impossible to be implemented on any devices that you already own, as it would require a new type of display back-lighting. Of course I am assuming they did not make the device ready for such a feature, since it was not designed for it. Maybe we'll get lucky and I'm wrong about that. But more likely, unless you get a new Alta HR after the feature has been implemented, the suggestion likely won't help you. Still good to vote for it though.

Great suggestions @MetalMastodon! 🙂 Thanks for the reply @Llivanov and @knitcrazy! @Llivanov You can follow @MetalMastodon steps to restart your Alta or you can visit this post for more information.
@knitcrazy This may be fixed by updating the time zone setting in your Personal Settings. For step-by-step instructions, please see our help article How do I change the time on my Fitbit device?
If your time zone setting is correct, simply sync your tracker to see the current time. For more information about syncing, see How do Fitbit devices sync their data?
I hope this helps, keep me posted! 😉

I had a fitbit alta hr since two years and I can’t read screen outside even without sun and I didn’t found any solution to fix it. However I bought another one for my wife one year ago and its screen is a lot brighter that mine. It is even readable under sunlight ... I should ask fitbit to change my first model but I had it since more than one year when I bought second one 😕
regards

I got my Fitbit less than a week ago. I cannot read it outside in anything other than intense shade. This is ridiculous; where does this company think people are going to get their 10,000 steps in? Is everyone just checking their resting HR on the couch? C’mon!
Since I got this free as a workplace health incentive, I can’t complain, I guess. However, I can write negative reviews and dissuade family and friends from wasting their money.
