Fitbit Alta HR screen dim

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I’ve had my Fitbit for just over two years, and I love it however lately the screen lighting has been so dim that it can only be seen in the dark.  I’m past my one-year warranty and not interested in buying another Fitbit if this problem is going to happen again.  I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this or has any suggestions?  I love my Fitbit but besides being able to see my data on my phone later, it’s now useless as a watch or daytime fitness tracker and I’m close to giving up on Fitbit.

I also am having trouble seeing my screen due to low light. I tried resetting it with the steps you gave but I see no difference. Is there anything else I can try?

I have exactly the same problem. My Fitbit Alta HR is a few years old - I don't remember exactly when I got it - and, while it's always been hard to see outside in the sunlight, over the past few months it's become almost unreadable in daylight, even indoors or in the car. It's only clear in the complete dark. The other functions still work fine. My partner has my old Alta and the display is much brighter. I tried restarting and it makes little or no difference.

This is my third Fitbit. I hope I don't have to look for a replacement.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

my wife has 40 fitbit alta bands. and the tracker is dead.   I bought another "new" alta from ebay. NOPE is was dead.  My question what to do with 40 diferent color bands to match what she is wearing.  best would be another tracker that would fit the alta pebble.  Does  anyone know if another manufacturer tracker would fit the alta band?????   Maybe someone in china will make a compatable tracker?

Hi

I am experiencing a similar problem with the display unreadable outside/during the day and barely readable at night.  I tried the restart procedure a few times and there was no change.  Given it is only just over 2 years old, this is disappointing.  I don't want to have to look at the phone everytime I want to check my step count for the day.

Regards

Tracey

I had to check my phone to see what time it is! 😆 No longer. Got a Galaxy watch for Christmas. Sorry Fitbit. Tried to stick with you. My first one didn't break but the strap broke and couldn't be replaced!

My Alta HR Sceen has become so dim I can only just make out the info in the dark. How can this be rectified?

I've tried doing this reset process numerous times with my Fitbit Alta HR and the screen brightness hasn't changed, it's still very dull and totally unreadable outdoors.

What can I do to resolve this?

Hi, I'm having this same issue after having my Fitbit for about 2.5 years. I have tried the re-set and it does not improve the screen readability. I'm in the same boat as others, if this is going to be a regularly occurring issue in this and future products, then Fitbit is not for me.

I have same problem with my Fitbit Alta HR. I have taken such good care of it and the display is so dim you have to be indoors with the lights off to see it. I opened a case they responded mine is past warranty and offered a 35% off a new one. I’m pretty bummed. Why would I want to buy another one when the one I paid for should still be working. This is obviously a manufacturing issue because many have same problem. For those of us that have these models in good working condition who have taken care of them it’s a real bummer.

Hello,

I also have a similar issue.  I have tried the recommended actions and nothing has changed.  Please suggest what else I should do.   Thank you

I have had my Alta for about two years also and the scre3n has dimmed.  My previous Alta only last just over two years before something went wrong.  It would appear that two years is their lifespan.

I’ve had my Alta for 3.5 years and haven’t had display for over a year but it still functions fine. I’m just making do with using my phone for readings!

My wife’s Fitbit has the exact same problem gradually dimmer and dimmer. Now after 2 years it hardly visible even in the dark. Is this a common problem and does that mean mine is not that far away from darkness as well?

Yes, from what I understand, once the screen starts dimming, the fitbit is on it's way out.  Time to buy a new one.  Sounds like they have a life span of around two years.

I got the same problem, but nothing works. I restarted sveral times, whatever I could do, the dim is too dark to read in normal day.
What to do now??

We got 2 of Alta HR, the other one is bright and readable. bought same day.
