My alta keeps lising connectivity

My Alta has worked well for 2+ years with no issues. Over last few months it keeps losing it's "mind". I tap for time and it is blank. When I  connect charger it gives a time several hours previously. I assume that is the time it disconnected. How can I  keep it connected to my phone?
