How do I restart my Fitbit device?

Troubleshoot a problematic device by turning it off and then back on

I have tried everything that is suggested. Mine started out not syncing. I restarted app, Fitbit, and then deleted App and tracker. Now I can not get tracker to reinstall. It recognizes tracker and gives me a code but will not install. I have tried all troubleshooting many times.

Have you removed the tracker from your phones Bluetooth yet?

Please be aware that with a sync issue, simply telling Fitbit that you are not going to use the tracker will not fix the issue, but will add more problems, as you have noticed.

We are now trying to setup a device that we already know is not talking with us.

What type of device are you using to setup your tracker.

I have an LG G6. It is the same phone that I used when I first got my Fitbit. I also tried to install it on my Kindle Fire. No luck with that. I did remove tracker off my Bluetooth and added it back.

What do you mean by added the tracker back?

Your suppose to remove the tracker, then open the Fitbit app and add the tracker to your Fitbit account.

A user can not add a tracker to the phones Bluetooth. If they do, the api will not be able to setup the tracker.

I deleted the tracker off Bluetooth and then searched for it through Bluetooth to add it as a device.

@kellyls800 deleting it from the Bluetooth is a good idea. Trying to add it to Bluetooth from the same screen is a bad idea, the tracker should have rejected pairing, and doing so should prevent the Fitbit app from finding the tracker.

Delete the tracker from the Bluetooth. Close this screen and open the Fitbit app.

Now we need to do an add device.

I said it found my tracker and gave me the 4 digit code, it tried to connect many times and kept saying to retry.

@kellyls800 I did some looking, your account was created in January of 2019 that is 2 1/2 years after the Charge was discontinued.

What tracker tracker do you have? Even the Charge 2 was discontinued by then.

Have you updated the Fitbit app?

Checked for phone updates?

Cleared the Fitbit apps cache, maybe even the data?

Shut down the phone, not just a restart.

Removed the Fitbit app and installed fresh.

Removed the tracker from the list of trusted Bluetooth devices on the phone?

I actually first set up my Fitbit account in Jan 2019. I have done all phone updates. Uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit App. Removed my tracker from Bluetooth. Turned Bluetooth off and back on. Restarted my phone. Turned off my tracker and restarted it. I have done all of this many times. It gets to where my phone finds my tracker, gives me the 4 digit code, but then can not connect.

@kellyls800 then I doubt in 2019 you bought a Charge tracker which they stopped selling around September if 2016.

May I ask what type of tracker you are asking about?

Does your tracker have a removable band?

Does it have a real button on the left side? Or the indentation of the virtual button?

Was there a reason for removing the tracker from your account? Doing so usually only makes a sync issue worse.

I don't know what youmean by a Charge tracker. I have the Alta HR. I had tried many times to sync my tracker and thought maybe uninstalling it and reinstalling it may help.

I mean that you have a year old Fitbit account, and chose to post about your problem in a thread for the Fitbit Charge area, the Charge doesn't have Heart Rate. That is why I've eyed to find out your tracker.

My answers have been based on the Charge tracker, not on the Alta HR. Your tracker doesn't have a button and the charge does.

Have you updated the Fitbit app?

Powered down the phone?

Restarted the Alta HR? Plug into its charger, while it is charging, hold on the button on the plug.

You might be able to shut the Alta HR off by holding in the button while Alta HR is connected to the cable but not plugged in ie not charging.
