Hello,
I'm currently training for a half-marathon, and had been using my FitBit app to track my runs.
Approximately 10 days ago, with no change in the settings or either device, this stopped working. Let me use my run today as an example:
- I began my run at 3:01 PM, actively tracking my run for the GPS data and mile times.
- While running, it provided average time, mile times, and an up-to-date map that was accurate to the point of changing the line trajectory when I crossed from one side of the street to the other.
- After ending that workout, the map appears in my exercise tab. However, it says that the run occurred at 9:01 PM (which has not happened even now in my time zone). I am unable to change this.
- Additionally, the map is the only piece of the exercise that is retained. It does not know how far I ran (even though it knows where I ran) and knows the total time I was tracking but not mile splits or average pace. It cannot sync with my heart rate or any other data, so it shows no calories burned and no steps taken.
- It then generates a totally separate exercise (today, it thinks I did the elliptical for 2 hours) at 3:01 using the data from my actual run.
The generation of a separate exercise at the same time also occurs when I log workouts after they are completed, but because I am logging them, it does note them at the correct time.
I spoke to a FitBit representative who suggested that I let the auto-generation track my workouts, which is not an option as I want the data about my run that it was providing successfully for 2 years. He then directed me to a GPS troubleshooting page, even though the GPS function appears to be working.
Has anyone else encountered a version of this problem? Can anyone provide suggestions? If it helps, both my device and phone are set to the right time.
TL;DR: My FitBit has no clue what time I'm running, even though I'm tracking runs as they happen.
Thanks!

@crc96 Since the Alta HR doesn't have connected GPS, I know that you are using the exercise tracking feature of the app, a feature called MobileRun. If you are an iPhone user, there is a known bug with this feature and Fitbit is aware. A patch is in the works.
