I received this as a gift. However when I downloaded Fitbit to my iphone (14.2) and began setting it up I was unsure which fitbit it was as I lost the box and there are no markings. I think it is the Alta HR because of the band. When I began setting it up I chose just "Alta" and quit the set up realizing it was probably an AltaHR. Trouble shooting says to turn off bluetooth, replace it on charger and push buttons on the charger- my charger has no buttons. My gift is losing its sheen quickly because I cannot even get it setup. "Chat line" is "full".

Have you tried just going back to 'Set Up a Device' as you did first time, and choose Alta instead? I don't think any troubleshooting is required. Just do it again. If you are still in the setup screens, just back out of them.

I eventually deleted the app and reinstalled and got it running. Once I passed those setup choices of which Alta, I could not find how to access again.
I still do not know if it is using ALTA or ALTA HR...

Whichever one you got it set up as, is what it is. You can check on phone app by profile pic at top left on 'Today' page, then see which model is listed.
The biggest difference is that the Alta does not track heart rate, while the Alta HR does.
