I have an Alta and the steps aren't syncing to the app on my Samsung S8 phone. The only thing that's showing on the app is the calories, nothing else. The last time everything sync'd was last Friday, 6/12/2020.
I found a way to reset it on another forum and tried that but it didn't work.

I had some issues and tried resetting it twice. The first time didn't work but worked after the second time.

The latest version of the Android fitbit app (June 2020) is a crap. The app crashed every day I have to uninstall and reinstall the app EVERYDAY JUST TO SYNC THE STEPS.

@Mifx I have no issues with the app.
Not sure what phone you have.
Let's force stop the Fitbit app, this is down through the phone settings
Clear the phones cache
If it still wont sync shutdown the phone and turn on.

Update.....
So it wasnt the car causing it like i thought because i rebooted phone right before bed to sync alta & woke up with it not syncing. So idk the cause but so far rebooting phone fixes it still.
I have had this problem too. Restarting my phone fixes it. I have realized that every time my phone makes a Bluetooth connection to something other than my fitbit (such as my car), I have to restart my phone for my alta to sync. I don't know if this is a problem with the phone or the app but it took me a few days to figure out. I reinstalled the app mang times with no success before finding thid fix. Hope it helps you too.

I have restarted my phone, cleared the cache, restarted the ALta numerous times. At first it would restart. Now it is nothing and won't sync. 😠

This happened to me at some point too. I think I had to unpair/delete it from my bluetooth menu and from my fitbit app under account settings (for me this menue is accecess by clicking on a circle in the left of app -would ve a pic if i ever added one). Uninstall the app. Reboot. Reinstall reboot. Pair with bluetooth. Then open app (may have rebooted here too i can't remember). I waa ready to throw the alta and the phone across the room but i remember the solve was alot of rebooting and pairing the alta through bluetooth before opening the app. Best of luck.

@Shan1canes yes unpair from the phoned bluetooth is often helpful, but a user will not be able to pair to the phones bluetooth. This pairing can only be done by the Fitbit app.
Removing a tracker from a Fitbit account is simply saying that it is not wanted and will never fix a sync issue. A user will not be able to setup until the sync issue is fixed.
Now if for some reason a user is able to pair through bluetooth the app will not be able to find the untrusted Fitbit because the Fitbit is now trusted.
For steps, see my post above

I was just listing all the steps I went through to try to get it to work in case it helps someone else. Simply force stopping, clearing cache, and rebooting didn't work for me. I went through it all 3 or 4 times before I finally got mine to sync after reinstalling app. Continually disconnects though. My husband had the same problem with his blaze and finally switched to Samsung. Both of us have note phones (different generations) but it seems people with many types of phones have had issues.
