Why is syncing so problematic lately?

Is there some sort of software issue recently that is causing the Alta HR to rarely sync?

I have tried every single troubleshooting tip to get the device to sync regularly, but it never works. The only way I can get it to sync is to either turn Bluetooth on and off, turn my internet connection off and on, log out and back in to the app, or remove the device and add it again. Even then, this is no guarantee that the sync will work.

To me, this is ridiculous and annoying. I should not have to jump through all those hoops just to get the device to perform a basic function. I'm at the point of getting rid of the device and going with a competitor brand.

Is there a problem with the software, or have I got a dud device?

I am so annoyed with this that I may abandon Fitbit, partly because they don't seem to care about this ongoing problem. Mine often won't sync or syncs only partially, not showing when I have reached my goals despite their own stats showing the correct amount of time. The cynic in me wonders whether this is their ploy to drive me to buy yet another product (I'm on my fourth already, thanks, having started with the Fitbit One, then Fitbit Charge HR, then the Alta HR, of which I have two). I also have the Aria scales. They are about to lose a formerly loyal customer if they don't fix this soon. Unfortunately even their website seems buggy lately. I think they've risen to the point of their own incompetence, as the old saying goes. Bigger is not always better if you mess up what made you successful in the first place.

At least I'm not on my own. I hope they sort this issue out soon, or they will lose me as a customer as well.

Me too! I just noticed mine hadn’t synced since Saturday and can’t get it to work.

Same! I just updated the app and now cannot successfully sync. I’ve been with FitBit for sooo many years but it looks like I’ll be changing soon unless this is fixed. A main reason I have this one is for the sleep stuff - which is NOT working now. Very unhappy ☹️ right now!

@SunsetRunner not sure where you are removing the device from, but removing a non syncing rarely fixes but makes things worse.

Now removing the tracker from the ink Ed Bluetooth is helpful but the user is unable to add it back.
