Android 8 Support?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So my phone, a OnePlus 3, updated to Android 8 last night. I have a Blaze and had no issues before but now, my Blaze won't sync to my phone despite trying all the support bits and contacting the Fitbit Support team.

What I'm trying to figure out, and not getting  straight answer from Fitbit, is does the app actually work on Android 8 (Oreo)?

The only comments I can find on here relate to the beta release of Android 8 but it's now at public release stage. Any ideas?

I'm desperate and there is no improvement at all.  Right now I've to uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app for every synchronisation. I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Anyone with a proper solution? If not I'll throw my Fitbit Charge in the thrash can.

Awaiting a response

Hey @SunsetRunner!

It might because the phone you currently have is not a supported device, as I mentioned previously. It might be that the app is having some optimization issues.

While we can't guarantee that incompatible devices will work 00% of the time, some users have found that following the standard syncing troubleshooting steps proves to be helpful. Maybe you could give it a try. As long as your phone is running at least Android 4.4 and has Bluetooth 4.0 it might work.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Switch off wifi, Reinstall the app and keep WiFi off,. Synchronization works. A work around for the synchronisation problems.

If you switch on the WiFi,  synchronisation stops and when you switch off WiFi then it starts again.

Hello Lanuza,

I've tested what's causing my problems. The first solution installing the app without wifi on resulted in synchronisation directly without any hick. Finally the last test switching wifi on, stops the synchronisation. But when you switch wifi off after, the synchronisation will start again. So on mobile data connection it works and on wifi the synchronisation crashes.

For now I can't make it any better but I know what's causing it. I don't know that this a specific problem for me or OnePlus.

It is what it is and I'm afraid that Fitbit will not come with a solution after six / seven months.

Thanks for your reactions so far.

Kind regards

Andries

Thanks for letting me know about that @SunsetRunner!

I've seen some cases similar to this. In those cases, turning the WiFi router off and then on again has worked. It could be related to your ISP in some way.

Glad to know that you did find a way to get it to sync however. If you have the time, be sure to visit one of our Discussion boards.

Welcome to the Forums @Abu_mast.

Thanks for letting us know that you tried all of those steps to get your Charge 3 to sync again.

In this case it could be because it bonded with your phone and that is causing the connection to not go through. Let's try to restart the connection:

  1. Go into your phone's Bluetooth settings and look for any Fitbit devices that show in there.
  2. Be sure to remove any Fitbit devices that are paired with your phone.
  3. Then restart your phone and run the set up process as if you had a brand new Fitbit.

In the meantime I'd like to ask what phone is it that you have.

Look forward to your reply.

Hi,
I tried that as well for my Samsung S8+. Also I tried to connect to my wife's phone Samsung S9.

It gets stuck after I get the 4 digit code and doesn't progress any further.

Tried it with the full charge and fitbit being connected to charger. That also didn't work.

Hi. My Fitbit Charge 2 would sync since 20 Dec 2018... after Android version 8.0 was installed on my Samsung...

I have tried all the Help steps to get it paired again with no luck at all. It gets stuck after entering the 4 digit pin... states connecting but never completes. I am VERY annoyed with this as nothing works!!!
