Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

I called tech, we did the troubleshooting and, nothing. It's still not working. The back of my watch no longer lights up. I will call fit bit in the morning. I wish you all luck with your trackers.

Godmorning. Restating bluetooth will not work for me. Mine no longer has the sensor lights on the back, nor will it restart after rebooting it. Thank you for replying

Several posts ago, I was asking help with bluetooth connectivity & syncing errors on my Versa and Xiaomi Pocophone F1.
Maybe somebody has answered the question above, but I found out the solution for my devices and everything's been working nice, so far. I'll leave here some explanations, what I was trying and in which order. Hope it helps somebody.
1) I did "factory reset" to my Versa
2) I cleared the Versa-related data from my phone's bluetooth memory
3) I connected my Versa manually from phone's bluetooth settings (Settings -> Bluetooth -> Available devices, where "Versa" appeared after factory reset)
4) ... after manual pairing, I quickly switched to Fitbit mobile app and started pairing Versa through app, which was successful. The app asked me 4-digit code presented in Versa's screen and everything else went as it's supposed to be.
No factory reset for phone or Fitbit app reinstall needed, according to my experience.
Wish you all the best end of year.

Thank you Tessierp!
Turning off Adaptive Battery worked for me as well! (Nokia 6.1 with Pie, and Blaze)
Thank you so much, random-internet-person-who-helped-me-more-than-actual-Fitbit-employees!
Months I've been waiting for an official "fix," from a Fitbit representative.
And I still wait, but for now, this fix works for me!
Thanks again!

Anita, Did you try shutting down your watch by pressing the left button and the lower right button (press them together for 5 seconds). And then restart your watch by pressing and holding the left button until you see the fitbit logo.

Glad I could help! But I'm guessing this is not the end of our problems. Many people have been reporting odd issues like random cases of watch not syncing with the phone..

Totally agree!
Also, it took me like 3 tries to turn off the Adaptive battery, like the phone didn't want to do it LOL. So my first time, I was like, oh, it didn't work either...but when I went to give it one more go I noticed that the option had turned itself back on. And again. 3rd time it stuck. So I wonder if other people's phones are "helping" them too LOL.
Anyway, so far so good on mine. Such a random thing too.
Thanks again!

Yes Sir, I did. I shut down the blue tooth, restart my phone, force stopped the app, shut down my ionic, deleted the app, restarted everything, and it's still dead. It will not re-sync, the sensors green lights on the back of the ionic are NOT flashing , the ionic is fully charged. I talked to fit bit support yesterday, she advised I call back today if nothings changed... I will be calling.

The sensor not flashing could be normal if it is not paired but.. I'm not sure.. I can't say I noticed if the light was flashing before I paired mine.. Hopefully your watch is still functional (not a hardware problem).

At the moment, the fit bit icon is just flashing. Thank you for your advice and comments

I'd like to know what the timeline / ETA for the fix is.
Just bear in mind, whilst presuming to thank people for their patience, that patience isn't infinite.

Yes, I'm new to this. What is the adaptive battery and what does it mean when the back of the fit bit green lights are not flashing?

Adaptive Battery basically learns from your phone usage and will dedicate more battery power to those important apps.. It is meant to optimize your battery life. In my case, after I updated my OnePlus 5T, it prevented my VERSA to sync.. Then I tried to uninstall the app, and unpair it, and I couldn't pair it back. Until I saw some information about Adaptive Battery and decided to deactive it in the phone's settings and from there I was able to pair my watch again through the application. Otherwise, the application would not sync (I would not get any pairing code). But I was able to bluetooth pair my watch through the phone's bluetooth config but of course that is not sufficient since you need to pair your watch with the app.. So I'm guessing FITBIT will have to make changes to their application to make it properly work with Android 9.0.

I have a OnePlus 5. It synced fine on Android Oreo, but once I upgraded to Pie it stopped working. When trying to pair, it suggests restarting Bluetooth, which does not help at all. Other Bluetooth devices connected to my phone work fine.

@tessierp yup - I figure it might have something to do with the Fitbit app running in the background, or the "always connected" function that might be in conflict with the goals of Adaptive Battery.
In any event, I had the same sync issue - bluetooth found the watch, but the app did not. In either classic or ... regular?
And to those of you with no blinking lights on your fitbit - if you mean the HR monitor lights, mine also went out after my last reboot. I had to go back into the settings on the fitbit itself and re-turn on the HR monitoring, which had switched itself off somehow. Then my lights came back on. So to speak. 🙂
Glad to hear Fitbit is still "working on it." I guess 4 or 5 months is reasonable to be without sync via your smartphone, right? /s
