I have uninstalled the most recent version of the fitbit app (2.88) from my Android 7 phone because of massive battery drain. With the app installed, all day sync off, always connected off, keep alive off, and 1 manual sync the phone battery life reduced to 30% in around 12 hours. With the app removed, this is about 60% at 12 hours.
So moved app to my Android 7 tablet. Same settings. 1 sync a day (more reliable sync noted). Now my tablet battery drains approx 50 % in 1 day with no other usage. Without the app, this was running for 6 days with no usage.
Conclusion: Android app power drain still a big issue and clearly related to app itself.

I have the exact same problem! For me it's a proverbial last drop. I'm already looking for some replacement. First and last Fitbit for me.

Its a disappointment for me as I like the UI and functions, but its no more use than a chocolate coffee pot if it flattens your battery so fast. Someone really needs to pull in the guys writing this code and have a serious chat.
Gonna do a few more test runs in the hopes a Fitbit person actually reads this and does the above.

Todays test was :
Fully charge and reboot tablet, but NOT open fitbit app. Leave tablet unused. Bluetooth swiched on.
Result: 15% battery loss in 12 hours.

Still consider yourself lucky. On my phone - 10% battery in 20minutes! It's crazy. The app itself is **ahem**ty, I don't like the UX, section with watchfaces is tragic, but at least it didn't bother me. (I wrote it already somewhere here.)

...actually had a change of mind and tried switching off background data access.
Result: 14%battery gone after 12 hours.
Next exciting instalment will be " Bluetooth off. Does snything help?"

....... And the final instalment, which may be of use to those techy guys at fitbit (or completely no use whatsoever!)
Uninstalling the app and doing nothing else STILL causes the battery to drain fast
UNTIL I rebooted the tablet, which then immediately returned closer to its glory , using only 8% of battery in 14 hours.
As a parting observation (giving up with this ''all coat and no underwear" version of the software), perhaps the fitbit android experts, struggling to try and sort this for us all could look at code, etc lft behind after an uninstall and see if that helps.

Thankyou, VeganDan for the `heads up`.
I refer to my new topic entitled "Android App 2.89 battery drain"
Installed v 2.89. Switched off all day sync etc. Fully charged tablet battery.Manual synced once. Left tablet asleep.
Tablet supposedly doing NOTHING.
Result:
11% drain of tablet battery in 10 hours with app installed.
3% battery drain in 5 hours after app removed.
Conclusion:
When asleep, this FITBIT APP ALONE is doubling the power consuption of the entire tablet, including all the other apps and operating system.
