Installed v 2.89 in the hopes that it would fix this battery draining app (on both my phone and table).
Switched off all day sync etc. Fully charged tablet battery.Manual synced once. Left tablet asleep.
Tablet supposedly doing NOTHING.
Result:
11% drain of tablet battery in 10 hours with app installed.
3% battery drain in 5 hours after app removed.
Conclusion:
When asleep, this FITBIT APP ALONE is doubling the power consuption of the entire tablet, including all the other apps and operating system.
2.89 has failed to address this issue, sadly.

@Digit01, after the install of the app update, did you force stop the app, shut down the tablet or phone, restart the tablet or phone, and then re-open the app? I always do that any time I install an update to the app, and have not had any battery draining issues. I am running app v2.89 as well. I checked battery usage on my HTC one M9 phone, and the Fitbit app shows having used 2% of the battery for the past 24 hours; and the K88 tablet and it shows the Fitbit app using <1% of the battery over the past 24 hours. Neither of those are a huge drain on device battery.

Thankyou for the constructive reply, USAF-Larry
The simple answer is no, I did not do any of that. I really shouldn`t have to!
Happy to follow the process as a test, but even if it works, it simply confirms there is a core problem with the app code and / or install. All the other 49 apps installed on my tablet are quite happy to go to sleep properly, so there is no reason why the Fitbit app, with appropriately skilled input, cannot do the same.
Thankyou LanuzaFitbit, for the replies, also. You are inviting further questions, the next one being, inevitably, can you post a timeline for resolution and give us regular updates on progress against that timeline, please?

Dear all,
Respect to USAF_Larry as his `workaround fix` did the trick.
After establishing the battery life returned to OK on my tablet, I followed the same process on my mobile (Moto X Play) and found the battery usage much closer with / without app (albeit on manual sync 1-2 times a day and no notifications to Versa)
Unfortunately, yesterday saw the Fitbit app sync process just stop. Attempt to manual sync just stopped or occasionally reported a sync error. This seemed to co-incided with me setting up my bluetooth headphones with the watch. No changes on the App, so not clear if this was linked or random, but re-installing the app (without re-pairing the Versa) did the trick this time.
I look farward to Fitbit making all this unneccessary.

Hi again.
Thanks for the tip, which seems to have done the trick!
Putting USAF and Ohio together, I wonder if you have links to Wright Patterson AFB, which I visited once, when studying in Dayton temporarily back in 1986.
