Is Fitbit compatible with Android Oxygen 9 (Pie)?

I cannot sync with my phone. It connects momentarily before saying there is a bluetooth connection issue, repeatedly.

Android 9 should definitely work but at the moment there is a known issue that is causing some issues for some Android 9 users. You can click here to read more about it. Any updates on the matter will be posted there.

In addition to that, it could be related to something else. To have a better understanding I'd like to ask you some questions:

  • What phone is it that you are using?
  • What Fitbit device do you have?
  • Do you have the latest version of the app? You can click here to read more about that version.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Lanuza,

Thanks for your response, really appreciate it!

  • What phone is it that you are using?
    • Oneplus 6
  • What Fitbit device do you have?
    • Charge 2
  • Do you have the latest version of the app?
    • I have updated the app through Google Play (it says 17 Sept 2018)

Kind regards,

Cal

Hey @Callyflakes. Welcome to the Forums.

Thanks for answering those questions!

In this case we have two options, it could be related to the issue I mentioned above with Android 9, or it could be happening because the OnePlus 6 is not part of the supported devices list. This means that the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone.

As long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a possibility that it can work but we cannot guarantee it. Some users of unsupported devices have mentioned that following these steps helps with the syncing.

If none of the above works, you could try to use a computer or another mobile device to try and sync your Fitbit to your account. Click here to get instructions on how to sync with other devices.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I hope it's the Android OS9 issue.

It was syncing perfectly well until that update.

I guess I'll have to wait and see once Fitbit works out this problem.

Thanks!

Hello @BHEL and @Callyflakes. Welcome to the Forums @mtholde.

As mentioned above, it could be related to either the phone model not being a supported device or an issue that our team is aware of with Android 9. You can read more about that issue in here. Do keep in mind that any updates will be posted there.

As for an ETA, at this moment we do not have any news of when will that Android 9 situation be resolved or when will those phones be added to the list.

Feel free to reach out with any other questions you might have.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've had my OnePlus 6 for months, with no syncing problems with my Charge 2. Updated to 9.0 yesterday, and no matter what solution I try, it won't sync. Guess I'll be syncing via my PC until this is fixed. What a massive bummer.
