Dear Android + Fitbit users,
the Android companion app for my Fitbit Charge 4 which I've been using since July is using up insane amounts of internal memory – a scarce commodity on most phones.
While the app itself weighs a meager 236 MB, in three months of frequent usage I've accrued almost 4 GB (!) of user data. Is there a way to configure the app so it discards old data from phone memory, leaving it in the Fitbit account only (where I can download it)? Or is it possible to manually and selectively delete old exercise data? Or can the data directory be moved to the phone's SD card?
Any suggestions are welcome to combat the Fitbit app's internal memory drain.
Thanks in advance,
Amy

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @AmyProtscher.
Thanks for the details provided in your post. The Fitbit app shouldn't take that amount of space on your phone. I found this post with some troubleshooting that you can try to solve this. Currently the data is stored in your phone's memory and it can't be moved to your SD card.
Hope this helps.

Hi @BraulioFitbit,
thanks for your reply. The suggestions in the other post amount to a simple clean re-install. I'll try that and see if it fixes anything.
Greetings,
Amy

Hi @BraulioFitbit,
I've performed the reinstallation as per your instructions, which was a bit of a tough cookie demanding several reboots, probably due to the bloated size of the app/data. Reinstallation/re-login was a breeze and currently the app is well-behaved. I'll report later if it stays that way.
Thanks,
Amy

Hi, @AmyProtscher.
Thanks for the update. I'm glad to know that the Fitbit app is working properly with the correct amount of data saved 😁.
Thanks for stopping by, see you around!
