Android app stops uploading data

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi,

Since last Friday, 7th Apr, my Android app has stopped uploading data to the server.

The app updated itself on the 6th, so I'm guessing this might be related.

Since then, I've tried restarting the phone, clear the Fitbit app data, reinstall and nothing works.

I'm using Nexus 6p with Android 7.1.2

Please fix this as this as soon as possible.

Thanks for stepping into the Community @MoonCocoon!

Are you getting any sort of error message? Could you take a screen shot of your app's Dashboard so that I can see exactly what is going on?

Look forward to helping you make sense of this situation.

Hi,

There's  no error message.

If using new UI, I can't see the sync status of the mobile tracker.

However, when I go back to the old UI, I could force sync it and then a bit '!' appears next to the mobile tracker.

I've tried unpire/readd the mobile tracker many times, but it can only sync in the first few minutes and then the exclamation mark appears again.

Every time the app is force stopped/data cleared, it will download the data from the web database, which means all the steps tracked before were wiped.

I see other people in the forum having the same problem so I'm not alone.

Hey @RLH01 and @MoonCocoon!

Thanks for bringing this up. Whenever you attempt to sync, are you using a Wi-Fi internet connection or a data plan? There is a possibility that it will work with one of those two but not the other.

Look forward to your reply.

Both are not working, and I've tried all different Wi-Fi places, home/work/public

Thanks for reaching back @MoonCocoon!

Could you take the screen shot that I mentioned before? I'd like to dig deeper into this and having that would definitely help me see what is happening.

Look forward to your reply.

I don't think it would be any useful, but here it is. It's showing Synced today at 09:18 because that was the time I unpaired and re-added it.

It is recommended that you use Android manager or Android assistant ,

Which can help you upload and manage data on computer , but the premise is that you need to transmit data to the computer

Welcome to the Community @Eaccerty

That can absolutely work for other type of data or information. Please keep in mind that the only way to get information from  the Fitbit into your Fitbit account is through the Fitbit app.

If there are any questions feel free to let me know.

@MoonCocoon,

Your screen shot looks odd to me, like an old version of the app. The current version of the Fitbit app is 2.60. If it is the current version, then it looks to me like you are paired to your phone. Here is the screen shot from my Nexus 5X running 8.0.0. It looked the same before I upgraded to Oreo.

I hope this helps and have a Terrific day!
