Android app update new permissions

Why does the latest update require permission to access call logs and to be able to make and manage phone calls?

In this case it would be the general permission required to have access to calls. The Fitbit app wants access to calls in order for the call notifications to work with your Fitbit.

Notifications worked before these permissions in previous versions of the app.

I refer to the new permissions required in the latest version to:

1. Directly call phone numbers

2. Send SMS Messages

3. Access Call Logs.

It could be that it triggered the request for the permissions but considering the specific permissions requested they definitely are related to notifications:

1. Directly call phone numbers: This one is related to being able to answer calls directly from your Fitbit.
2. Send SMS Messages: This one is for the quick reply function. So that you can reply to texts through your Fitbit.
3. Access Call LogsL The last one is so that you can get the notifications for calls or missed calls.
