Why does the latest update require permission to access call logs and to be able to make and manage phone calls?

In this case it would be the general permission required to have access to calls. The Fitbit app wants access to calls in order for the call notifications to work with your Fitbit.

Notifications worked before these permissions in previous versions of the app.
I refer to the new permissions required in the latest version to:
1. Directly call phone numbers
2. Send SMS Messages
3. Access Call Logs.
