App occasionally logs out and requires password

The app occasionally logs out requiring me to re-enter my password.  This has happened 3-4 times in the past couple of months.  Is there a forced time out in the app now?  I don't recall this behavior in the first year of running the app.

Welcome to the Forums @nonews.

Thanks for bringing this up.

There is not a forced time out in the app, no. My suggestion in this case would be to clear the app's cache and then use the app normally once again. To do so please follow these steps:

  1. Open the phone's settings.
  2. Go into the application settings.
  3. There look for the Fitbit app and tap on it.
  4. Once there, clear the app's cache and then restart your phone.

From that point on, it should not log out on its own anymore.

Please do keep an eye on it and let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

I tried your solution but the app logged itself out again.   Does the app have problems with close all from the task select? I  am running stock on a Galaxy s8 (android 8.0.0, december 2018 patch, samsung experiece 9.0)  I only activate bluetooth when syncing with my fitbit.

Hello @nonews.

I apologize for the delay in my response. Thanks for getting back to me with those details.

At this moment we do not have any reports of the app having any issues with that option. It is possible that it could be caused by where the app is installed. In the past, some apps have started closing for me out of nowhere because of that. Let's try moving the app:

  1. Follow all of the same steps I shared above.
  2. Instead of choosing the option to clear cache, select the option to move the app to the phone's internal or external drive. Once it has been moved, restart your phone and give it another try.

Look forward to your reply.
