Automatic location changes to wrong location

Help please...

In my fitbit app, whenever I set the location to automatic (in the advanced settings), the app sets my location to United Kingdom. The problem is that I am in Australia. If I manually set the location to Australia, it immediately changes it back to United Kingdom when I set the location back to automatic. How do I get the location to be automatically set to Australia?

The reason I want this (and believe that it's important) is that I'm trying to set up the wallet in my shiny new Ionic. The app has allowed me to go to the first step and set the pin, but then immediately exits out of the wallet setup. In other words, I'm not given the option to add any cards. I suspect that the app is checking my location and picking up that the automatic location is UK, concluding that the UK is not currently supported, and then exiting the setup. I think therefore that I need the location to automatically set to Australia.

Thanks in advance

Hi there @cstephen, certainly this is not a normal behavior. The only way to set your location as you know is through your Fitbit app. If you are using automatic location, this information takes the location from your phone settings.

In this case if is possible, make sure your location in your phone is set for Australia. However in some phone brands is not possible to access the location settings after the initial set up. So I would not consider this as a solution unless your phone allows you to change locations.

If this is something related to your Fitbit app. perhaps the following steps will do the trick:

Log out from your Fitbit app and go to your phone settings. Access to the App manager option and look for the Fitbit app in your downloaded apps list. Once you are there, clear the app cache and data and proceed to "Force Stop" the app. Finish the workaround by restarting your phone. When your phone has initialized, go back to your app and try again.

Have you tried to set up your Fitbit Pay without using automatic location and leaving the option in manual input?

It is possible the location is not allowing you to complete the process to set up your Fitbit Pay. Since at the moment only United States, Australia and Switzerland are available. But also some cards from participating banks might not be supported in Fitbit Pay. So make sure your card is supported by contacting your bank or issuer for more information.

Hope this helps and keep me updated how it goes.

Perhaps you might not have a location app installed. Check if you have google maps or any app for location.
