Hello,
Do you need premium to be able to logfood using barcode scanning?
I googled it can be done, but I can't find the barcode icon?
Thanks! Liz

Hi @lizzconn - You should not need Premium to use the bar code feature. The problem may be in your phone settings. Please check out the Help page here regarding food logging with the bar code. On my iPhone 13, this is what I see after pressing the + next to Start Logging Your Food. If you do not see the barcode symbol, then please come back here and let us know which phone you have and which OS or iOS version it is on. An IPhone needs to be at 13.4 or higher. An Android phone needs to be at 10 or higher.

@lizzconn - Thanks for the quick response! I’ve asked a moderator to step in and help since I am not familiar with Android phones. In the meantime, you can check out more on the specifics regarding an android here.
I’m going to move your post to the Android thread. People there should be better able to help you.

When you open food logging it should be next to the + symbol:

Hello @Twinkeltoes
Hopefully I can help. Open your Fitbit App, tap your profile picture then scroll down and tap the name of your Fitbit Tracker. Now tap Gallery then tap the magnifying glass image at the top of your screen. Type in Barcodes in the search bar and tap enter/search. You will then see the Barcodes app…just tap it and follow the online screen instructions.
😃 Please let me know if this gives you the best answer

Hi everyone. @SunsetRunner, @t.parker and @SunsetRunner Thanks for your help and screenshots provided.
@lizzconn and @Twinkeltoes I've moved your posts to this new thread so we can keep the forums organized. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and just to confirm, were you able to find the barcode icon at the upper right corner of the Food tile? If not, may I know the model and OS version of your phone? Is the Fitbit app updated to the latest version?
In the meantime, let's give a try to the following:
- Log out from the Fitbit app.
- On your phone's settings, tap Apps > Fitbit > Storage > Clear Cache.
- Go back one screen, tap Force Stop and reboot your phone.
- Open the Fitbit app and log back into your account.
- Tap the Food tile and try using the barcode icon one more time.
