Hey guys,
I'm putting this here because I'm at a loss for where else to put it. However, it's a feature I try to access from the android app so here goes;
What on earth is going on with barcode scanning and the UK food database? I literally have never successfully found a product by scanning the barcode. I'm not even talking about rare foods from niche stores either. I'm talking about Tesco's bread, Warburton's bread, Tesco's Roasted Chicken, ASDAs milk, NISAs milk, Co-op's margarine.....common products bought from well known stores.
Has anyone had a positive experience of this and is it just me? I don't want to use MFP to track my food but, honestly, it's getting to the point where I don't have much choice.
Moderator Edit: Updated Subject For Clarity.
I followed the suggestion above to see if the setting could be changed and there didn't even appear an advanced settings button to click at all, I'm very confused and disappointed as are others it seems. Are there any plans in the near future to change this to be compatible in the UK?

Hi, I have been campaigning for some time for fitbit to sort the whole UK food database situation sorted out. #addukbarcodestofitbit
The FitBit Pay doesn't bother me too much as they did list that the only major UK bank that they are partnered with is Santander.
But the fact the food/bar code scanning is not available in the UK wasn't mentioned anywhere that I could find. To me it is one of the biggest features that made me purchase my Charge 3 SE the other day.
Definitely feeling conned.
Ended up resorting to MyFitnessPal, but when it exports to FitBit it just puts it through as summaries, which is annoying, not sure whose fault that is, if that's FitBit just grouping the data or if MyFitnessPal just exports it like that.
Exactly! It’s badicslly useless. You are better using My Fitness Pal app to record. Food

Best AnswerSo I have got it to recognise a few things but few and far between. Today it recognises a Tesco vegetable lasagne but the calories are totally wrong. It also makes no sense that a lot of food can be correctly found by searching, but there's no barcode associated with them. You need, 1) to be able to submit correct information and 2) to be able to search for something then add a barcode for it. Not just for yourself but for everyone. You would soon build up a solid list of UK barcodes and foods and if someone scans something and it's wrong it will soon be flagged up. Why is this so hard?!
Probably isn't hard for someone who knows what they are doing and wants to do it. Fitbit however seem to be concentrating on adding more models with more bells and whistles that don't fully function. Let's face it you're lucky if you can get the "ahem" thing to synch.
Hi. I've just posted a review on Trustpilot.
We should all do this
