When entering up your weight goal in the Weight Goal field, it automatically populates the Body Fat % field with a number. For example, if I am 6 ft. and I enter a weight goal of 195 lbs. in the Weight Goal field, 26.4% automatically populates in the Body Fat % field. This number is your Body Mass Index (BMI = weight in pounds / (height in inches x height in inches) x 703) not Body Fat %. Adult body fat percentage is equal to (1.39 x BMI) + (0.16 x age) - (10.34 x gender) - 9, with gender equal to 1 for men and 0 for women to account for the lower body fat percentage of men. In the above example, Body Fat % should be 25.3% not 26.4%. The following link contains the link to these formulas: http://www.livestrong.com/article/173592-how-to-convert-bmi-to-body-fat-percentage/
1. Please enhance the Fitbit app to include a field for BMI under Weight Goals. Ideally, users should be able to set goals for both BMI and Body Fat % when setting up their weight goals.
2. Please correct the formula for Body Fat % in the Fitbit app so that it is not utilizing the BMI formula when your weight goal is setup. Instead, utilize the correct formula to calculate Body Fat %.
3. Please enhance the Fitbit app to include a field for BMI in the Log Weight screen. Users should be able to log their BMI in addition to their Weight and Body Fat %. The app should be able to automatically calculate BMI and Body Fat once the user enters their weight (as long as the user profile includes the user's height and age).
I was wondering why it puts a number in there every time I put in a weight. I have a scale that measures fat % so when I check it through my scale I'll change it in Fitbit, if I don't check it on my scale I'll erase what Fitbit put in.
