[Bug] App is showing incorrect step count. Where is my step data? I want it back!

This year I have walked an average of over 36,000 steps, every, single, day. I have screenshots to prove this from last month and the month before. You can see my yearly data is consistent between the 2 screenshots.

For the past week or 2, my data for this entire year is now incorrect, by an insane amount.
So in the first 2 screenshots you can see what my data should look like, in the 3rd screenshot you can see what it actually looks like today. And I'm including 4th screenshot that I took today, but of the miles walked category... which for some reason still shows the correct data.

I have already done all of the following multiple times

  1. Restarted my phone
  2. Restarted my watch (Pixel 3)
  3. Signed out and back in on the fitbit app
  4. Uninstalled and reinstalled the fitbit app
  5. Removed my watch and added it back

Where is my step data? I want it back!

Hello @SupahSet

There has been an on-going issue on the Fitbit side that affects some users' ability to see historical data. The team is aware of the issue and has been working on fixing the problem.

It seems to me to be a syncing issue between the user data on the Fitbit servers and the Fitbit app. As best as I can tell, there isn't loss of user data, we're just not able to see it in the app.

At this point, there isn't any troubleshooting steps we can recommend since the issue is on the Fitbit side. If I see any updates on the fix, I'll report back.

Thank you for the information, it's great to hear the team is aware of it. Though it has been an issue for a while.
I do hope this is fixed by December at least, I really wanted a full year progress screenshot

Still causing issues for me! I have always averaged around 13k steps and was around 4,900,000 for the year last week. Suddenly there are missing gaps of time with some months (even back into 2022) showing averages of 1.8k steps and my total for this year dropped to 4,400,000 range. Fitbit, please fix this! Looking back at other posts, this has been affecting people for months!

A week after this post it was magically fixed for me, and has been fine for the past 3 weeks. It's now broken again.

This is actually insanely annoying its been allowed to go on so long. Definitely switching fitness trackers for 2025.

Do you have any contacts on the fitbit side? This is incredibly frustrating it's been going on for months now 😐

I’m having the same issue.  I thought it was my device then I found something about this but it was dated September and said the issue is fixed.  I did everything listed above.  Super frustrating.  Works off and on.  Like one day out of a week.  I count on my device to help me with my exercise.
