Calories aren't resetting

So I just got a new Fitbit. Now I have the Charge 2, previously I had the Zip. I deleted my zip from the account and with my new device it's saying that I have burned 1500 calories. This is clearly impossible. Anyone else have issues with the calorie tracker? I had the same issue with the Zip. I've read that it resets at midnight and that the calories that are already logged when you use in the morning, are ones you've burned during your sleep. I'm unsure about this. Any feedback is appreciated.

@Crzybtyful, it does reset your calorie count at midnight each night, and then starts recording calories burned from midnight on, including the BMR calories while you are sleeping. BMR calories are those burned just keeping your body functioning and generating heat.

But how does it do that if I'm not even wearing it?

@Crzybtyful, it doesn't care if you are wearing it or not - your body is still burning calories whether you are wearing the tracker or not, and it uses the info you provided in your profile to calculate your BMR. Then, every minute that you take a breath you are burning those BMR calories.
