Can't stop email notifications

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Several weeks ago my Sense started showing Otlook email notifications, which I do not want; I don't want any email notifications.  I've tried uninstalling the Fitbit app on my Samsun S21 Ultra a few times and totally resetting notifications, but that has not helped

Prior to the unwanted email notifications appearing, I would get calendar updates only from Otlook.

All of my other notifications are working as expected.

Any other suggestions for me to fix this issue?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @TraciG4.

Thanks for the details provided in your post and for the troubleshooting performed. Please check that the email notifications are turned off on the Fitbit app by going to your profile's picture > Sense > Notifications > Email. You can also check under "App Notifications" that the Outlook app is not selected to send notifications to your watch.

By the way, I moved your post to the Android thread to keep the forum organized.

Hope this helps.

I've verified again (and each time I reinstalled the Fitbit app) that Email
notifications are disabled and the Outlook app is also disabled.

Thanks for your reply @BraulioFitbit

I re-verified that the email notifications are disabled and Outlook is not selected to send notifications.

Still getting email notifications which is making my on wrist notifications virtually useless.

Any other ideas?  My smart watch is being a dumb watch.  🙂

Hi @TraciG4.

Thanks for the update. Are you receiving notifications from any incoming email or just email notifications from the Fitbit app (like friend requests, when your Sense's battery is low, etc)?. I also recommend you to check on your phone's settings if the Fitbit app has permission to access to your emails by following the instructions from this Samsung's website.

Catch you later.

Did you find any sort of solution for this?

First thing I'll put in here is that I think it is a bit stupid that the forum rules forbid me from typing Outlook and email as consecutive words. I'll try putting in an asterisk between them.

I've recently decided to give the Outlook app one more chance after using the built-in Samsung email app on mine and I am also getting notifications for Outlook, even though email notifications are turned off. I turned them on and changed the option to get notifications from GMail instead. I sent an email from Outlook to my Gmail account and I don't get them, but I still get notifications for Outlook * emails.

I left it on the GMail option and turned notifications off. I still got notifications for Outlook * emails, but not GMail.

I rebooted after the above. No change. I have cleared cache and rebooted. No change.

Well, bugger me! I just about gave up and was going to delete my Outlook profile and go back to the Samsung app, but thought I'd try one more thing. I changed the Calendar notifications to GMail, and I stopped getting the Outlook * Email notifications. I changed it back to Outlook and the email notifications started again. I left the calendar selection on Outlook and turned off calendar notifications and I seem to have fixed it. I repeated a few times just for good measure and it seems Outlook's email notifications are tied to the calendar notifications. I actually don't mind the calendar notifications, but the Google calendar seems to sync Outlook items. I've set it to that and I don't get any email notifications, from Outlook or GMail.

Who knew that trying stupid things that have no business working can actually work sometimes?

I like the watch, but the app is incredibly full of bugs. I can only hope that someone from Google rewrites it from the ground up.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for stopping by, @Ftumch.

I appreciate the information provided in your post. Do you have the same Samsung phone's model? You mentioned that the email notifications stopped when you turned off the Calendar option, were you receiving email notifications for events on the calendar or notifications from every incoming email?

I am having the exact same problem with Outlook notifications on a Sense + Pixel 3:

When Outlook CALENDAR notifications are turned on, I get EMAIL (and calendar) notifications from Outlook.  Email notifications are very clearly turned off.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled Outlook and rebooted the phone + Sense multiple times.

I have the Galaxy S21 Plus.

I'm guessing the problem is related to the Outlook app being the same app for email and calendar, so either it sends the notifications for email as well as calendar events, or that the Fitbit app isn't able to tell if it's an email or a calendar notification.

In contrast, GMail and Google calendar are separate apps.

It was working fine for months on my Sense and for years on my Versa.

Not sure what changed.  Frustrating!

Yes - This worked absolutely fine on my Versa 2 but not on my Sense.

Same for me. I think the issue is Fitbit can't distinguish Outlook calendar vs. email. I've re-installed, disabled email, and checked all other notifications.  This is a Fitbit-Outlook integration issue.  I need to use the Outlook app for work, and I only want outlook calendar notifications NOT email notifications.

So - Is this being investigated? Is this a known issue? What needs to be done to resolve this?

So where are we with this? It's been 6 weeks since it was reported and we haven't heard anything about a fix.

Estimates based on previous bug reports indicate there will be questions asked about a potential fix for about 4 years.

I updated my tracker software today and it's still happening.

I really hate to post this as I am just complaining: But I truly hate this smartwatch. It's inferior in every way to my Versa 2, barely functions and seems half-baked at best. The support thus far has been awful.  I can't wait to get something else.

So is this being worked on or no? I've since upgraded my phone to a pixel 6 and have the same problem.
