Cannot add Card into google wallet "This Card Can't be set up for Contactless Payments"

I've Recently purchased a Charge 6, and am unable to add any cards into my google wallet on my fitbit. 

I've tried Amex, Barclays credit and barclays debit. all get the Error message: "This Card Can't be set up for Contactless Payments". I've read other posts saying that they have successfully added these card schemes, so how can this be the case?  These cards are already added into my google wallet on my samsung phone.

All cards I have tried are already setup in Google Wallet on my phone.   

I think it may have something to do with how it interacts with google wallet. One thing I've noticed on when adding the Amex card is that when It asks me to enter the cvv for the card - the Expiry date on it is of an old card (one that I have replaced) and which is no longer part of my Google Wallet - its been superseded by the newer card. I don't know where it's getting this information from. 

The Barclays cards do not have this issue, however.

Hi, @Humper76, thanks for your feedback. I'm not an Amex user but note in Google Wallet if you select a card on your phone, touch the three dots>swipe up to the bottom you can "Remove payment method". I assume if you remove the old Amex card you can then re-install the new one and progress from there. Let us know how you get on, you may find more knowledgeable help at Google Wallet Help

The old amex card does not appear anywhere in my google wallet. (I have a few subscriptions attached to my amex so I'd rather not remove that one if I can help it!)

I have removed and readded the Barclaycard(credit), and this has still not worked, though.
