Hello @Tolosband and welcome to the Community. Do you use a Family Link account? Many parents want the added oversight with Family Link, but there seems to be an unintended consequence that it limits models to the Ace series. If this is the situation, you must remove your son from the Family Link and he must have his own Google account. Also, some EU countries have stricter age limits and users must be 16 or older.

Thanks for the answer.
Yes my son has family link, he is aware that he can remove supervision but by choice, at the moment he prefers to keep the filters suitable for his age, therefore I do not want to force him.
In the meantime I found a workaround by installing a 2020 version of fitbit app that allows to create an account unrelated to Google. In this way the smartwatch also works with family link.
Finally, I would like to point out that during the configuration, Family Link also seems to interact perfectly with the new app, asking parents to authorize the creation of a Fitbit account, but it is only during the final pairing phase that something goes wrong.
I hope it will be resolved in the future.
