Charge 2 - inconsistent and unreliable syncing

I've posted on the tracker specific board, but coming to the android OS board with hopes to resolve this. My charge 2 tracker rarely syncs correctly, and I've followed all of the proper channels from support to fix the issue (updating/restarting/force quit/re-install/etc).

I'm curious if anyone in the community has found a solution to what seems like the most basic function of the tracker (syncing data from tracker to the cloud)...

Many thanks in advance...

Accepted Solutions

According to the most recent reviews in the Google Play Store, this syncing issue is a common problem with the latest update of the app.

What solved the problem for me, was just going to the Bluetooth settings of my phone, and 'forgetting'  my Fitbit devices (don't reconnect them). I didn't need to reinstall the app, or to remove my tracker from my account.

I stopped using the mobile app because of too many problems for too long, and sync strictly through my PC's now.

It's been working perfectly.......no more headaches. Best decision I've ever made 🙂 😉

You should check out the list of compatible android devices. It basically says that if you own an Android device released after 2015 you shouldn't expect it to work with fitbit.

I have also stopped using my android phone app to sync with my fibit. I have an ipad which does it flawlessly, plus my desktop.

@luca85Where do you read that androids AFTER 2015 don't work well with fitbit?

Out of anger, I copied down the Whole list of compatible android devices from fitbit.com/devices . Then I searched on the internet the release date of each compatible model. 80% of the list is of 2014 models, almost 20% from 2015 phones, and then there are just 3 compatible phones made afterwards (Samsung S7, Samsung S8 and Google Pixel -not Pixel 2 however-)

That's extremely frustrating.. the common remedy to the problem is to just default to using your PC/Mac for the simple function of syncing data back and forth. Curious if @Fitbit has a more clear stance on this issue.... appreciate everyone contributing!

Does anyone know why the text message notifications stopped working? There's no resolution to be found online.

Thank you!

Sadly I share your pain on my Android. I have an iPhone (work phone) too. When I force it to sync, my Android will then sync and what I like to say "catch up." This is my second Android and I've always had this problem. And it's my second work iPhone and it's always reliable.  Sorry I'm of no help but wanted to confirm a consistency with Androids and poor syncing.

Quick update - by going into the phone's (not the app's) settings, and "unpairing" the charge 2 from the connected list, that *seems* to have resolved the problem. I also successfully tried this remedy with my wife's ionic, and it worked seamlessly.

Although it sounds like a lovely simple idea this is not a fix. I tried it, it didn't work. It didn't work on my last phone (Sony Xperia Z2) and it doesn't work on my current phone (Honor 10), and everyone else I know with a Fitbit has the same annoying issues of it refusing to sync on a frequent basis regardless of phone. The argument about compatibility is a load of nonsense - it's Bluetooth, it's a standard, devices either comply or they don't.

This topic has been driving me nuts for nearly 3 years, the only workaround for me is to reboot my phone so that Fitbit doesn't keep telling me Bluetooth is broken (no amount of restarting Bluetooth ever fixes it). Meanwhile all my other Bluetooth devices work without problem.

It should be noted that rebooting my phone will fix the issue, but waiting 12 hours or so usually fixes it to ... which seems to be proof that its nothing to do with my device/phone/bluetooth.
