Charge 3 won't sync with NordVPN enabled

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Starting this morning, my fitbit refuses to sync with my phone unless I disconnect my NordVPN connection.  I've been slowly moving away from all services that are not compatible with VPNs and if FitBit is joining the ranks of corporations that do not respect privacy then I will find solutions from companies that do.  I wasn't really a fan of requiring location data enabled to sync step and sleep data anyway.

For clarity:

 - There were no updates to my phone OS over night

 - My app synced just fine while connected previous to today

 - I've been using NordVPN always connected for over a month

 - My phone is a OnePlus 5T

Welcome on board @wireu3, it's nice to see you around here! If you've had this experience, it may be the result of malicious traffic uncovered from the IP address used in your VPN connection, identified as a potential risk to our site. This activity may be the result of an infected or compromised device also accessing our site from the same IP address. Alternatively, this may be the result of another malicious user who is also connecting to Fitbit through the same VPN service. In those situations, the IP block is intended to protect Fitbit and its customers from additional malicious traffic.

If you encounter similar issues in the future, our recommendation is to attempt syncing via a different connection or on another network. You may also wish to contact your VPN provider to explain that you've had a difficult experience connecting to Fitbit as a result of other malicious users sharing the VPN service.

Additionally, I just wanted to mention that at this moment the OnePlus 5T is not yet a supported device with the Fitbit app. You can see the compatible devices at: Which phones and tablet can I use with my Fitbit watch or tracker?

Please keep in mind that when a device is not supported we cannot guarantee its functionality with the Fitbit app. It might work at a certain time and then it can stop working out of nowhere after an update. This is because the app is not optimized to that device and any change could impact the performance.

I have the same problem. I started using Nord VPN on my phone and have noticed that the Fitbit app will not sync or work at all when VPN is enabled. It will show the message "No internet connection".

It is very easy reproducible, just enable VPN and app doesn't work. Disable the VPN and Fitbit App will start work again, mostly. Sametime it is necessary to restart the phone to make it work again.

It tried some different VPN servers, but it just does not work. I will for sure not contact my VPN provider as this issue is clearly Fitbit problem.

My phone is Motorola Moto G5S, which is supported phone according your list.

Exactly the same problem with a Fitbit Versa 2 & my LG-V30 handset. I can change countries, pick specific servers etc. It's a general block when NordVPN is enabled. Not cool

I am also having these issues and after speaking to FitBit support, they advised to raise a Suggested Feature ticket, which i have done here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Allow-Fitbit-Access-through-a-VPN-on-Mobile-App/... and as a Modorator has said, it needs up votes before being taken seriously ...
